Janez Matičič

Janez Matičič (born 3 June 1926) is a Slovenian composer. A native of Ljubljana, he was a 2007 recipient of the Prešeren Award. He has also been active as a pianist and teacher of music.

At the Academy of Music, he graduated in composition in 1950 and conducting in 1951. He was in Paris with Nadia Boulanger[1], between 1952 and 1980 and collaborated with the research group for a specific music under the direction of Paul Schaefferja. Among the most notable track may be considered Matičič two concerts for piano and orchestra, concerto for cello and orchestra, especially the songs created in the modernist and research ability. In 2007 he received Prešeren Award for lifetime achievement.
